Delivering America’s Energy Security

The challenge of delivering America’s energy security is, in my view, one of the most serious and defining issues of our time.

We are in the midst of a political process to elect our nation’s new leaders, and yet this most critical issue of energy security is simply not being addressed in a rational, fact-based manner. Instead, the few comments made about energy are typically characterized by sound bites that call for energy independence or that vilify the oil and gas industry with accusations of profiteering and pledges to penalize the industry through increased taxes and other onerous government actions.

Clearly, the need has never been more urgent to join together and step beyond narrowly focused political ideologies to tackle our energy security issues. Here I will outline some of the actions we need to take to address our energy challenges effectively – because, frankly, America is running the real risk of losing the global race for energy.
