Hillary Clinton on Energy
Hillary is a savvy political veteran, and as the Democrat front runner you would expect to see her policies clearly laid out, however, as a savvy political veteran she knows the dangers of doing that and has kept it very light. However, we have been able to pick up some nuggets that give us an idea on where she stands. read more

Ever Wonder Where Hillary Clinton Stands on Energy, we did.
Pope Francis and Religion of Climate Change
We have long noted that the Global Warming (Climate Change) bell ringers are some of the greatest offenders, when it comes to our sensibilities. They ride in private jets to swanky resorts to hold meetings admonishing the world’s population. They manipulate data to support their enlightened theories; they live in opulent mansions (sometimes multiple opulent mansions) and drive the very best cars. They profit from what they preach, and live like they don’t need to care, while telling the rest of the world to make do. read more
Energy policy in today's world of make-believe
Does energy policy need to be complicated?
Over the years we have published hundreds of articles from industry CEOs, Presidents, managers, politicians and Energy Dignitaries about energy policy. You can see a partial list here. The nuances surrounding the topic are numerous and the policies, for the most part, make sense. So why can’t our guys in Washington or on the campaign trail get it right? read more
Renewable Fuel Standards, making your car obsolete and big business happy
The RFS, renewable fuel standard woes.
Recently I came across a term that has been widely used to punch holes in the renewable fuel standard, the “blend wall.” Having not paid too much attention to ethanol and its rules I hadn’t come across this before so I decided to take a closer look. read more
Iranian oil impact, are we seeing an underestimation of geopolitics and wishful thinking?
by Dr Cyril Widdershoven
The unexpected success of the P5+1 Iranian nuclear agreement is still making headlines in the global media. Analysts are convinced that the return of Iran into the global economy will have an huge impact, leaving oil and gas prices low for the foreseeable future. Optimists are indicating that Iran could easily bring 600,000 -1.5 million bpd of crude oil onto the market, while gas exporters are dreading the return of Iran’s gas exports. Western politicians and corporations are flocking to Tehran’s 5* hotels, and are sucking up to the former member of the Axis of Evil. The world has changed, nobody can deny that, but has it changed for the better? read more
Oil Market Woes in Congress, to Export or Not to Export
I remember reading rumors about the vast amounts of oil locked in the Mid West as Internet spam, and the conspiracy theory that the US was using imported oil before allowing its oil to be developed. Rumors that hyper efficient cars or electric cars were being stifled by the industry and rumors of price fixing. It seems now that every time the price of oil kicks up the conspiracies come back with a vengeance. So has anything changed, as the price goes up will we once again see the conspiracy theories abound? read more
Saudi Arabia and Russia, should we be worried?
Will a new cold war present itself due to the lack of leadership from the United States and our new found oil production? In 1976 we signed an agreement with Saudi that avoided any further use of oil as a weapon against the United States in exchange for, among other things, our protection. Could the Kingdom now be seeking other protectors as our oil production increases and our support of our allies wanes.
Recently Russian President Vladimir Putin met Saudi Prince Mohammad in St. Petersburg where Saudi Arabia and Russia, two of the world’s leading oil producers, decided to form a working group for joint energy projects. read more
Is Saudi Arabia winning the price war...not without help.
Over the last year we have watched the price of oil drop from a high of $107 to lows in the $30 dollar mark and a recovery to $60 dollars. Today we have some saying that the price war against swing producers (US unconventionals) is over and the price has stabilized. read more
Jeb Bush, staunch conservative or fair weather friend?
Jeb Bush, brother of George W., is running for the republican nomination for president, for those of us living under a rock. The Bush family has become somewhat of a political dynasty unto itself of late, with two Presidents, two governors, and younger ones taking political office along the way. read more
The Renewable Energy Myth of the Obama White House.
Recently the White House tweeted that renewable energy was reaching an all time high in the United States. The implication is that this type of energy is becoming more mainstream, and is beginning to make a difference in our energy mix. I remember back in 2009 when our Vice President suggested we could supplant our entire coal fired generation fleet with offshore wind, it was a ridiculous statement then and this idea still ranks there today. read more
